A name or place submitted through a search tool is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the entry and supplies its results. Scott County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.

An email sent to us may be retained as needed to answer it. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.

The website explains how to locate records held by Scott County courts and law-enforcement offices, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into a consumer report or a record about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes that appear on the website. Their privacy policies, rather than this policy, govern information entered into those tools. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices, so visitors should read that provider's terms before submitting a query.

Links may lead to Scott County offices, Kentucky court and agency portals, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy rules apply. Those rules should be reviewed before personal information is supplied.

The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs access to records held by public agencies and does not turn this private website into a government records custodian. KRS 17.185 and KRS Chapter 17 separately govern certain Kentucky State Police criminal-history and registry records. Subject to applicable law and the information we actually hold, a visitor may:

- Ask us to correct inaccurate personal information
- Seek deletion of personal data where applicable
